Just wanted everyone to know that today, Greeks all over the world are celebrating Greece's Independence Day. The actual day itself commemorates the start of the War of Greek Independence from 1821-1832. We are a culture that's very proud of our heritage and as children were forced to memorize and recite poems (in Greek) on stage in front of our local parishioners in observance and celebration of this very special day in all our lives. You know who you are. Zhto h Ellas! (The "h" is pronounced like "ee. There, I'm giving you free Greek lessons too. That's how generous Greeks really are!) Oil painting by Theodoros Vryzakis, 1865.
