The new poster for Duncan Jones’, Moon, starring Sam Rockwell, was just released…and it seems remarkably similar to Joseph Sargent’s super computer thriller, Colossus: The Forbin Project…don’tcha think?
While Moon seems to pay homage to films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Outland, and Silent Running, perhaps Colossus was also a source of inspiration. If you’ve never heard of the 1970 clunker, check out the trailer after the jump…

For the record…
I was just offered a free DVD screener of “Moon” and I declined.
Some films you MUST see on the big screen.
What was going on with 70’s movies and space? That looks really weird.
Did you know that Duncan Jones is David Bowie’s son? I’ve actually seen the film already and can’t really say much other than Jones can’t pull off the psychological mind fuck thriller that Polanski can, but still did a very good job.
Hmmn… Colossus = weak.
I’ve been anticipating “Moon” for quite some time. I think it fits squarely into a film genre I made-up: Psych-fi which combines science-fiction with a healthy dose of Psychology issues at it’s core. Films like:
Gattaca
Solaris
Blade Runner
The Matrix
Contact
2001
Eternal Sunshine (possibly)
Dark City
Unfortunately, I can’t find anywhere in Denver that might show “Moon” anytime soon. The Mid-West is such a hit-or-miss place for good smaller/indie films.
