Days after Disney wowed Cannes audiences with 10 minutes of 3D footage and a promo clip for Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming performance capture film, A Christmas Carol, the Disney marketing machine proved itself again by unveiling Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train Tour.
The train kicked off Memorial Day Weekend at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, and will travel to 40 U.S. cities across the country. The locomotive’s interior showcases footage from the film, behind-the-scenes material, and a demonstration of performance capture technology. Now that’s one hell of an idea for a marketing campaign if I’ve ever seen one!
The film, starring Jim Carrey, is set to open November 6, 2009.

Kudos to the new website, guys! This place has become my new homepage! I love the blogs, the tweets, the pics, and everything else. As for Zemeckis’ new film: the promo footage looks pretty good but does anyone else think this story has been adapted on tv & film way too much?
This looks good, but no movie will ever replace the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol. Chris and Jimmy–what’s your favorite film version of A Christmas Carol? What’s the best movie based on a Dickens novel?
I think next to the Bible, this story does rank as the most adapted of all time…but I think that’s because it’s so damn good.
I’m hoping for a larger-than-life version this time around. My fav is still the 1951 version with Alastair Sim.
Effin love the new site. Pic section is awesome. Who’s the photog?
Expect some upcoming 7ate9 rants on your blog posts for sure.
One strange thing I noticed though, for some reason I can’t find the forum.
Just bustin’ ya balls. You know I still love you guys.
welcome to our glorious madness 7ate9!
the photographers in question are andrew waruszewski and paul krizan…both fine gentlemen of the utmost importance.
please spread the word about the new site!
Great new site guys!
Have to say Disney sure loves Christmas Carol! Even with Jim Carrey and all the marketing in the world it will never beat my all time favorite and probably the best version of this story ever made “Mickey’s Christmas Carol”!!!
I heard the original plan was to run a train on Sasha Grey. Apparently they nixed that idea and went with something more conventional.
All time favorite version: SCROOGED
Nice one j.O.
Hopefully this doesn’t end up like The Grinch! I’m not saying that Jim Carrey isn’t normally good but when he isn’t he can destroy movies.
