There is always a theory behind putting the title of a movie within the actual movie. Peter Griffin absolutely loves it. It’s a quick clip so check it out. The clip is taken from Family Guy Season 7 : Ep. 12 “420.” Great episode!

“Superman 4: the Quest for Peace…so, THAT’S why they call it that.” Hah hah, that made me smile. Thanks for posting that, Jimmy. I also love when there are fake movie titles within movies. They are always so over-the-top. Example: “Blood Beach 1&2″ & “Bordello of Blood” in DePalma’s “Blow Out.” Although “Bordello of Blood” was eventually made into a moie (originally written by Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale.)
My friend DP Andy and I love naming these movie offenders while on road trips. It can be so distracting to hear the title mid-film.
Another good one is picking a letter from the alphabet and naming as many movies as you can that start with that letter…rule is that milestones like #50 and #100 have to be classics.
Justin: I enjoyed Billy Zane’s performance in DEMON KNIGHT. I dug the film a lot more than BORDELLO. That’s just my prerogative.
C: I remember the alphabet game on the “1st Annual Wilshire Walk.” YES! Love DP Andy and so should everyone else.
demon knight was the shit. bordello of blood, while it had more boobies, was definitely inferior. and this is coming from a boobies enthusiast.
dunno if anyone even cares, but i picked up a movie title game from a punisher comic book awhile back (yeah, i’m a nerd. so what?)…. you name a movie, and the other person names a movie title that begins with the letter that the previous title ends with. its pretty fun.
for example, if you say “demon knight” i would respond with “terminator” and you could respond with “re-animator” and so on and so on. its also a good way to pass the time on trips.
I always love hearing about new movie games and all of those sound like fun. My friends and I like to take two actors from completely different eras of film and link them, ala Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. The coolest was when we linked Bela Legosi and Pauly Short through SIX actors. I cannot remember HOW we did this, but it occupied most of our 4 hour trip to Duluth, MN.
It always seems to get me (in a good way) when a movie has *another* movie title in it. I love in ’12 Monkeys’ when they go to see ‘Vertigo’, for example. Oddly, the worst recent example I’ve encountered was in ‘S. Darko’, when a marquee advertised ‘Twelve Monkeys’ [sic] on it… they were attempting to ground the movie in the mid-90s, but getting the title wrong ruined the effect for me.
[There was also a modern-day case of Miller Lite at one point in the film (as opposed to what cases of Miller Lite looked like in the mid-90s), but I suspect most people (other than me) don't care about that one as much.]
More mention/discussion of movie games is always welcome, by the way! I really loved the mention of Handbrake in a recent episode. I’m definitely going to do the “Pulp Fiction audio-only road trip” in the near future.
