Great episode guys. I cannot wait for this movie, just the expression of the Goat when Clooney stares at it and the goat just falls down, it’s just brilliant. It’s sad to see it all end after so long but I just have one not advice, but recommendation: It would be nice to hear Chris Mac and Jeromy in one final episode.
You guys were so high for this episode. Love it.
Well hell, I spoke too soon. I can’t believe the show is ending. This is a sad, sad day for me.
great episode. bummed to hear my favorite film review show is ending soon. any plans to maybe hand off the reigns?
Great episode as always, guys. However, I have fallen into a great depression after your announcement at the end. You guys have been a part of my life since 2006 when I discovered you guys through the “Departed” episode. Thanks again for getting me through the tough times and congrads on your careers taking off. I have one special request: can Mumby make just one more cameo before the last episode?
WHAT??? Really? This is seriously sad news. You guys give me so many laughs. I am really going to miss you. Ugh.
Does this mean we can finally have the forum back?
What better way to keep in touch with your fans…
So sad to see you go! What about an end of the year episode??
Hello from Finland. Great Episode! Gonna miss you guys..come back!
Gonna miss u guys….U guys need to Jeremy Am Mac back on before you wrap the show.
Hey Chris and Jimmy,
I can’t believe the show is finally ending. When you guys joked about it last week I didn’t take it seriously but this announcement really is like a part of me is now missing. It’s like my favorite TV show just got cancelled.
I’ll be listening to the old ones until I’m an old man. Thanks for everything.
Thank you for all the fun times. I’m only 19, but I’ve learned so much about films during the two years I tuned into the show. I agree that the last episode should have your awesome guests.
Chris and Jimmy,
I’ve been listening to your show only since August, and I guess I’m like someone who just discovered a great thing and sort of immersed themselves in it. I listen to four of your episodes at work a day, unfortunately, sometimes only three. I’ve fallen in love with your show, humor, and most importantly your taste in movies. If not for you guys, I wouldn’t want to watch half the good movies I do. Some would say you are just a podcast. I would say you’re part of what makes movies so great to watch.
Thank you.
I would like to echo what has been said in the previous comments and say that I too am very sad that “Dollhouse” will no longer be on the air. I never watched an episode and didn’t even know that you guys were on the show but I wanted to express my sorrow anyway – solely because I hate being left out of pop-culture message board threads. I am also unhappy that “Max Headroom” is canceled. C’mon! Pisses me off.
Hello Chris and Jimmy!
I was really sad after I heard your decision to end the show…But I’m looking forward to your blogs!
You guys have been in my ipod since last November…So I guess I’ve been listening for a full year now! It feels like I’ve been a fan since the start though(:
I love your humor, good luck for whatever you’re aiming for in the future!
PLEASE bring back Mumby ONE MORE TIME!
-A fan
Very sad news indeed! You guys have put on a great show, and your rapport, your friendship, whatever, has made the show great. I will truly miss the podcast – and thanks so much for all the past ones! Okay, I totally howl when you play “seven”….
You douchebags. This announcement almost caused me to rearend a Prius this morning. You’re giving it up? You’re leaving us? You’re too fucking good for us now you’ve wiped the residue from some coked up studio exec off your chins, and accepted that script polishing gig??? huh? huh? You fucks were the only thing that kept me sane on the 101 on the way to my batteryhen style existence in reality television. Now all I have left are the over-earnest queeflike bumblings of Adam Quigley et al to look forward to. How dare you go off and get lives and careers, you sick bastards.
Two more things:
1. I wanna hang out with bobotheclown.
2. I think Mac-E & Mumby should oil wrestle on your last episode — broadcast live from the Thunderdome. Two oiled-up men enter; one tired, oiled-up, possibly aroused man leaves.
The truth is, we’re moving to Switzerland to make bathtub moonshine and pretzel dogs. I hear there’s high demand for ‘em over there.
I mean, let’s be honest…you can only ingest so much hot chocolate and cheese fondue.
I listened to this announcement just before a science quiz. Probably not the best idea.
indy42, i’m totally with you. I listened to this just before my guitar lesson and was out of it the whole time.
OK Chris and Jimmy,
Can’t you at least do an end-of-year wrap up every year? Or one episode a month? PLEASE! you can’t just leave us forever! NOOOOOO!
Jeromy you should start your own podcast with Mac-E. That would be amazing.
I have gotten a lot of great DVD recommendations from you guys over the last couple of years–thanks a lot for that. Favorite episodes: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Benjamin Button (and all the “Seven” that followed), and the Philippe Petit interview.
I will have a hard time finding a podcast to replace this one. Good luck to you guys! I look forward to the last few episodes.
I agree with Zach. We know you guys are busy with your lives and careers, but how about 1 special episode a month? The smodcast isn’t always every week. Come on, 1 episode a month, plus the year-end wrap up would keep us happy (not that it’s just about us, but…well, it’s mostly about us, hahah.) Also, Jeromy and Mac-E should do their own podcast, as well!
Zach, YOU ARE A GENIUS! Chris, Jimmy, could you please end the show with a year in review episode. you can’t just leavy us hanging about wat ur favorite films of the year were. Then end it. please?
What?! Is this real life? This is like falling in love with a puppy only to have it snatched away from you and shipped to Capetown or something, I don’t even know. But…but I grew up with you guys, in a way! At least, you helped in the maturation of my tastes and interests, and introduced me to so many things. Plus the knowledge you guys have of the industry is astounding. HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME LIKE THIS, THIS IS UNFAIR. I’M BELLOWING LIKE ARNOLD RIGHT NOW.
It’s been real. Can’t really say much that hasn’t been said already except that I think that the last episode should be a duel to the death between SceneUnseen and Slash Filmcast. That has the potential to go ‘viral’. I discovered a lot of great movies from listening, I’ll miss the show. Peace.
Chris! Wait, what?!
I thought the truth was that Jimmy and You were moving to Wisconsin and Greece to make the epic documentary, “Skodras!”
Holy Shit! am I going to miss you guys…
The only way you can make up the bad news that you’re ending this 3 years of fun and fabulousness is to review a film about 3 years of fun and fabulousness: Pirate Radio. Pleease, guys!
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuggh…this sucks. I hadn’t realized what an integral part of my week you cats were until this moment. I’m definitely going to miss our movie hang- outs. Good luck in your endeavors.
I don’t know what Chris is talking about, I’m moving to the East coast to start an oyster farm!
WE LOVE YOU ALL!
I am goig to miss this so much. You two were a huge part of my week and I’ve listed to almost every epsiode. I’m so glad your leaving up the site and keeping up the arhived episodes. These memories will be missed. I’m excited for your success and Les make this last month a great one.
I didn’t realize how emotionally attached I’d actually become to the show.
Dammit, I need you guys!
Not really a “need” I guess, more like a man-crush type situation.
just finished the episode. thanks for ruining my day guys. youve convinced me to see so many movies i probably wouldnt have, to include THIS IS IT. i guess i should thank you rather than sulk, so thank you guys for all the work youve put into the podcast. i cant believe that this is it.
Damnit you guys!! I am so sad! Your show has really inspired me to broaden my horizons with film. In fact, I pre-ordered Antichrist.
) Good luck and much sucess to both of you with your film careers and thank you for the countless hours of laughs and listening pleasure!
Zach, when I listened to the podcast and got over the immense sadness and suicidal thoughts I had after hearing that Chris and Jimmy were bailing on us, my thoughts immediately turned to Jeromy and Mac-E doing a show with some cameo apperances by Mumby. That would be epic. One of my favorite quotes ever from SceneUnseen was during the “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” episode. Besides saying the entire title everytime Chris and Jeromy mentioned the movie, I could not stop laughing when Jeromy was talking about the special effects and said that sometimes they were so bad that they looked like “staples and painted bacon.” That is still one of the funniest things I ever heard in my entire life! Combine priceless comments like that with Mac-E’s semi-retardedness and it would be pure listening gold. Please consider it!! It would almost be as good and Chris and Jimmy themselves.
sorry Zack I didn’t mean to f-up your name.
Christina K, I 100000% agree. This would be amazing, a campaign has started! I also remember quite a few SceneUnseen quotes, my favorite being Mac-E’s impersonation of Jimmy on the Chronicles of Narnia episode. That was priceless. Everyone else for a Mac-E/Jeromy “Scene Unseen” like podcast make your voice heard!
I’m so depressed. When I see my little iTunes searching through my podcasts for new episodes I’m always hoping there will be a new Scene Unseen and now my dreams have been dashed. Every time I listen to you guys I always find myself literally laughing out loud in my cube at work. I will really miss this podcast.
David Chen, of Slashfilmcast, just gave Chris and Jimmy an excellent shout-out on their most recent episode (they reviewed “2012″). He said that Chris and Jimmy helped to define what a movie podcast could be. Well-deserved praise guys!
C & J
You brightened up an old guy’s life, gave him a whole bunch of insights into the real “Inside Hollywood” scene, gave him information on movies he’d never have considered seeing, and gave him a few shocks and laughs along the way. Wish you both the best, and as Bob Hope always said: “Thanks for the memories.”
I agree with all the commenters above, I will miss your podcast dearly. I stumbled upon the podcast accidentally, and didn’t realize how much I’ve become dependent on you guys. I’ve been listening close to a year now, sometimes saving up a few new episodes at a time for a long run or my commute to work. The archived episodes have helped me get though spouts when you guys were on vacation…You two have put a lot of hard work into the show, as you can see from above, everyone is going to miss you dearly. Anytime I hear “seven” I can’t not think of you guys.
I agree, a year end wrap up would be much appreciated, as well as a showdown between Mumby and Mac-E
Damn, I am going to miss you guys! Well, this had to happen at some point, and there’s no better way than exiting gracefully on a high-point.
Listening to your podcast has been fun and great. The conversations, jokes and childhood references always brought laughs. The memories are the film conversations that I wished I had with friends.
You always will have a fan in me.
I love the idea of Mack-E/Jeremy continuing the podcast (or evolving it into something else)… with, dare I hope, the occasional guest appearances by Chris and/or Jimmy? Consider me a subscriber… overall very bummed out, this has been my favorite, must-listen to podcast for a couple years now.
crrrriiiiiiippp, not crrrriiiiipppp, going to be crrrrrrriiiiiiippppp again!!!
Can I say, you guys are too smart and too funny for us to be limited to a blog, no matter how fabulous it is. Can you do a podcast, ever? Say, a year-end wrap-up, at least? Or, quarterly?
All the best to both of you in your careers, and congratulations for creating a great podcast, a great site, and for garnering such an enthusiastic following. You did it, guys!
oops, I hadn’t read the comments, yet. I guess someone already suggested a year-end wrap-up thing.
Can you send everyone in your email list an update about what’s going on with you regularly? Or an email list of new films, your ratings, and an Arclight coupon?
Basically, could you just do something?
Did I mention I’m completely bummed out about this?
You are all wonderful, admirable, 97.5% perfect people. We sincerely thank you for all your comments and sentiments.
Suggestions and ideas for the future have been duly noted and are under review by an inebriated panel of hoodlums and castaways.
One thing we will do for SURE is venture into the world and try to make some decent motion pictures (i.e., “talkies”).
Time to put up or shut up. Then all of you can start a podcast and tell us we should have kept our day jobs….and we can cry into our spiked ginger ales.
Well krap on toast!!
I was probably one of your elder listeners (47), but I really appreciated your love of the classics. So many 20-something film geeks think that “OLD TIME” movies mean “Home Alone” or other pre-1980 crud.
You guys were smart enough to know your stuff before launching a podcast. And so I got hooked. Absolutely golden to hear mentions of “Rear Window,” “The Apartment,” “The Old Man and the Sea,” and “The Bridge on the River Kwai.” And… TURTLES!!!
You restored my faith in the under-30 set as far as film fandom goes. And in a humorous, clever yet insightful way.
And now? Pfft.
I suppose I’ll be forced back to Old Fart Roger Ebert. Zzzzzzzzz…..
Good luck, boys. I say that YOU OWE US –your podcast family — front-row seats to your first Oscar win. I personally want to be jetted in on a private plane, as I’m East-Coast based.
Gah.
And what about your cliffhangers??? Will Jimmy ever find his missing/lost/lent/stolen DVDs???
OK, who wants to start a podcast with me over skype? It’ll be like the /Filmcast, only cooler and more like scene unseen. WHO WANTS TO?
Wow! I feel like I’ve been dumped! What with the whole “It’s not you, it’s us” thing, sob. Great idea Zach, let us know when you get your pod on, you can be the rebound cast.
I have another idea. How about the last episode is a live episode where viewers can call in and send emails and discuss the history and our favorite moments. Thanks for the memories.
Great idea Leon, Chris, Jimmy, you should definately consider that, but still, a year end wrap-up would be greatly appreciated guys!
How am I going to know what to put on my Netflix now? The show let me cut through the crap and have one up on my peers when it comes to movies. People are always amazed how much I know about the film and its back ground.
My commutes home aren’t going to be the same. At least I won’t get as many funny looks in traffic because I always seem to crack up when listening to your show.
I consider Scene Unseen part of the holy trinity of film podcasts, the other two being Filmspotting and /film. And without Scene Unseen to save me, I will be in film podcast purgatory.
I really did not know how attached to this show I was till I heard the news this morning. I’ve been listening for year or so and just recently finished listening to all the past episodes.
If nothing else, give us desperate losers a quarterly episode or a year end wrap-up.
I really am begging you.
I started a film podcast a few weeks ago, but without Scene Unseen I just feel so uninspired…..
Thanks for the hours of entertainment you bring not just from the reviews but from the movies you recommend too.
Glad to hear sceneunseen will continue in some way though with the blog, and we can always hope you throw out some random episodes every so often (if you get the time!).
Good luck with the films!
I must add my comments with the many others… I will miss you guys! Happy for you guys. Taking it to the next level, the industry needs guys like you. Look fwd to the upcoming episodes but w/reservation to the end! My ride to work laughing my ass off will not be the same. There will be a void on my podcast list. You guys are irreplaceable. IRREPLACEABLE!
You guys will be missed. At least give us one more episode with Jeromy and Mac-E. Please!
It’s probably for the best
I expect big things out of Chris. We can all say we knew you when.
Thanks Chris and Jimmy for all your insightful and witty banter. Your presence among the Film-cast GODS will be sorely missed.
FAVORITE MEMORY – Listening to you guys while in 3rd Period Economics class in High School, laughing my ass off while you guys had the all-too-familiar “verbal joust” about Quizno subs. You guys got me through some of the most boring moments school.
It’s kind of sad to think that I started listening to you guys when I was 16 – I happened to be one of the “early” Scene Unseen fans w/ “producer Matt and the original Sassy” tune.
*Now I am 19 and getting ready to transfer to film school myself!!!
Most importantly you’ve shaped, refined, and retooled my overall opinion on film and film critique! And the results have left me to cherish these didactic pieces of information to good use and help me explore the world of cinema.
Thank you guys for the great memories!
Oh no! Tell me it isn’t true! I love your show! Now all that will be left in my podcast list for movie reviews is Filmspotting and they are so meant for the hardcore film buffs! (Sometimes snooty and pretentious…sorry fans!)
I love that your interactions are accessible to people who love film but don’t feel the need to dissect every nuance and dialogue.
I’m gonna miss you guys!
Mabuhay from the Philippines,
Lizel
It. Can’t. Be. True. I’ve never been so engrossed in a podcast in my life, and I’m sad that you guys are deciding to close down shop. You guys have given me many laughs over the years, and I wish you all luck in your journies.
It’s interesting to me how sad I am about this considering that I don’t actually know you two but I feel like I do, I guess that is because I’ve been listening since almost day one. Thank you for letting me know there are people out there that truly love film as much as I do and that wanting a career in the industry isn’t hopeless. Thank you so much for the laughs ( I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder than when Chris and Mac E were losing composure over the Chimps in Space movie or whatever the hell it was!) Thank you for sharpening my movie nerd skills and random knowledge that comes with the territory. The next time I’m in LA, the scotch is on me
I have listened to every episode courtesy of the archives. Thanks so much for expanding my movie appreciation. Take care and I wish you both all the best!
Well damn! This is what I get for letting episodes back up so I can listen later. I truly consider you guys friends and will miss all your funky shenanigans every week, but I’m also looking forward to your ventures into the “real” world of movies. hahaha oh man.
Damn, I wish you guys the best of luck.
