The new poster for Duncan Jones', Moon, starring Sam Rockwell, was just released...and it seems remarkably similar to Joseph Sargent's super computer thriller, Colossus: The Forbin Project...don'tcha think?

While Moon seems to pay homage to films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Outland, and Silent Running, perhaps Colossus was also a source of inspiration.  If you've never heard of the 1970 clunker, check out the trailer after the jump...

The long anticipated film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's children's tale Where The Wild Things Are, adapted for the screen by Dave Eggers, Michael Goldenberg, and Spike Jonze, hit the web today.  The movie looks way cool with familiar undertones to Jonze's directorial style.  Despite the many problems the film had in production with the story's tone and the animatronics, I think Warner Bros. would be the ones to blame if the film turns out to become a complete flop, but I highly doubt it.  Currently scheduled for an October 16th, 2009 domestic release.

Filmed in the Midwest (ahem!), primarily Wisconsin, amongst several other locations (Eat that State Wars!). Scheduled for a July 1st, 2009 domestic release. I know a lot of you haters out there didn't like Miami Vice (I on the other hand really enjoyed the film despite Colin Farrell's occasional "breakfast, lunch, and dinner love!"), but I think this film has a lot of potential.  Here's the link to the Official Website.  Anticipate!

 

Check out this new animated Japanese trailer for Cat Shit One, released here in the U.S. as Apocalypse Meow, originally a three part manga series written and illustrated by Motofumi Kobayashi (not that you would know who that is, but I at least have to give the guy some cred).  I'm not saying I like this, but I must admit it's pretty insane for a bunch of talking animals. Maybe it helps that they're speaking Japanese. Animation looks cool, but seriously people, talking killer animals?!   I guess bloody rabbits are for kids...not Trix.

I'm not quite sure what to think of this, but at the moment I'm leaning toward unadulterated support. It appears that the good people over at Worldwide Biggies, Inc. have released "The Princess Bride Game" for Mac and PC. I've always been a huge fan of the film, and it sure beats the piss outta Inkheart and Bedtime Stories in the movie-within-a-book genre. With the official voices of Mandy Patinkin, Robin Wright-Penn (I adore this woman), and the incomparable Wallace Shawn (but no Cary Elwes?!) attached, maybe it's a decent adventure for the young tikes in your life.   I suppose at the end of the day, a little bit of "Comic Mischief" and "Mild Cartoon Violence" does a body good.
