In the aforementioned issue of “Rolling Stone,” writer Gavin Edwards made a surprisingly accurate comparison between two of my favorite artists, Woody Allen and Prince.
In the introduction to his review of Prince’s new THREE-DISC album, “MPLSoUND” / “LOtUSFLOW3R” / “Elixir,” Gavin writes:
“Leaving aside the Super Bowl halftime show and the assless pants, Prince is like Woody Allen: They’re both reclusive, sex-obsessed geniuses who release new material relentlessly without any regard to the law of diminishing returns.”
Spot on, mate…spot on.
