I'll be the first to admit, the last ten years have not been kind to Mr. Woody Allen.
Of course, there's flashes of greatness - Match Point, Sweet and Lowdown, and Vicky Cristina Barcelona - but those gems are unfortunately sandwiched between such embarrassing debacles as Anything Else, Curse of the Jade Scorpion, Hollywood Ending, Celebrity, Small Time Crooks, and Melinda and Melinda.
With this in mind, I ask you to reconsider Woody Allen...standup comic. Next time you find yourself planning a road trip, seek out this collection of his standup years between 1964 and 1968.

Even the most stringent Woody hater will appreciate his razor sharp comedic timing, absurd stories of hilarity, and self-deprecating one-liners. One of my favorites - "Here's a good example of oral contraception. I asked a girl to go to bed with me, and she said 'No.'"
What I love most about this album, is that you can actually hear the man SMILING through these recordings. Unfortunately, the album's not available on iTunes...so you'll have to go out and find a hard copy. Trust me, it's worth it.
Here's a clip of his classic "Moose" bit...
